Summer Learning Journey (Bonus)

Activity: In the mid-1930s, things began to change for the better in New Zealand. More people were able to find work and receive a steady paycheck. They were still careful, however, with their money and rarely, if ever, bought treats or gifts for one another.

Imagine that you were able to travel back in time to visit a family in the 1930s. What special gifts or treats would you like to bring with you? I would likely bring blocks of Whittaker’s chocolate, bags of Jet Planes and Pineapple Lumps, healthy food snacks, clothing, and games for the children. What about you?

1. Warm clothes, and other clothes that are in good shape.
2. Water and food, chocolates, fruit, lollys things like them.
3. Games, toys and balls.
4. Phones or walkie talkies, so they talk to their friends.
5. Radio or a music player so they can dance and listen to music.

  1. Hi Bridget

You are very generous, that is a lot of things you would take back with you.
I love that you would take a radio or music player with you so that they could dance. That is such a good idea. Think how happy this would make some people.
Lots of yummy treats is always good too. My favourite would be potato chips with onion dip. I would definitely take that with me.

Maybe next time you could include some photos with your answer to make it a little more fun to see. Think about what you could do to make your posts more interesting.

    Keep up the good work

    Until next time

    Allie :)
