Sailing 2019 Recount

Yesterday afternoon the Y6 7 & 8's went sailing. First we got dressed at school and walked down to the yacht club in the rain. Then we went inside for a bit then got instructed what part of the boat was which and how to put it together, then put together a boat on our own. After that we put on our wetsuits, rain jackets and life jackets. Then we partnered up (I went with Mary) and chose our boat, we chose the pink boat. Mary had to hold the boat still while I got in and put in the center board and put down the rudder. At first I was controlling the rudder and Mary was controlling the sail, personally when we were tilting and almost capsizing I was not a big fan so I was yelling at Mary to let go of the rope. Most of the time while we were sailing Mary and I were laughing. Then at one point we close to Jakob and Kyle's yacht, I was controlling the rudder and sail while Mary was splashing them with the bailer. Then we played a game, the aim of the game was to get everybody on your team to hold the ball and then throw it into the rescue boat. Mary and I kept spinning around in circles and couldn't get the ball, but we got it eventually. When it was time to get out of the sails I had to jump out of the boat,  my legs felt like jelly and I felt like I couldn't walk. This was my 3rd time sailing and this time I picked up how to sail quicker this time. Over all I enjoyed sailing and I hope sometime in the future I can go sailing again.

  1. I am insanely jealous that I didn't sail with any of you. But office work was calling. :( Glad you had a good time on the water.
