Activity 2: Imagine that you were on board one of the wakas. On your blog, write a short letter to a friend telling them about your voyage to New Zealand. In the letter be sure to tell them how you feel about moving to a new country.
Day 1:
We set sail, it was nice and calm when we left, I think our contry will be proud we have found another place. I will miss my family, but I have to be strong. My home is no longer in sight, It will be quite a boring trip but a great adventure. I am nervous I see some waves that look bigger than the calmer ones we passed. The waves are coming over our heads its so loud, my friend fell out of the waka, best of luck to him. I am cold so is the rest of us, my pages got wet but it will do. We have decided to rest up but one of us stays awake, I think we have a good system.
Day 2:
It is starting to feel lonely all I can see is water, and other waka's. There is a shiver that goes down my spine, I have a bad feeling about whats ahead. Are you serious again, there is another big lot of waves we cling of to the waka,we all survived. I am starting to wonder if we will even get to this new place, I know its only day 2 but all I can do is paddle, think and hope.
Day 36:
We are getting so close I can feel it, I can sense it we will hopefully be there soon. I am excited but nervous, my legs have got bad cramp but this should be worth it. I wonder how my family are doing, I hope they are surviving with out me like I mean, wait. Yes! Land ho I see land, we are paddling faster and faster! There is a weird bird standing on the shore, it has two legs and is tall. I wonder what it is.
Day 40:
We have set up camp on the beach, this is really exciting I wish all my family and close friends could be here. But the main thing is, we survied it was nervracking at first, but know we are happy and excitied for the new things this place we bring to us.
Bridget I like how you jumped from day 2 to day 36 to see the difference between the days.
ReplyDeleteHi Emily, thanks for the comment, I thought it would be more interesting if I jumped fowards by a lot of days.

Hi Bridget
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea jumping through the days. Its really interesting to read the difference from nervous when you star out to excitement when you finally see land.
It would be a journey just like a rollercoaster!! You would be nervous and worried one minute then happy and scared the next.
I liked reading this. You have done a really good job.
Its great you are getting comments from schools in Auckland. Make sure you keep in touch with Jahrey!
Until next time
Allie
