Famous bands also started travelling across the world and in 1964, New Zealand hosted, arguably the most popular band of the time, The Beatles.
People were very excited to see The Beatles, and the hype around the band was known as Beatle-Mania (similar to the modern-day Bieber-Fever)!
Read about their tour of New Zealand below, and then post three interesting facts about The Beatles Tour on your blog.
1.There were 7000 screaming fans (most of them were girls).
2.One girl badly hurt her leg trying to climb a wire fence, two others were forced through the fence from pushing behind.
3.There was a team of 30 police officers, some in plain clothes.
Hi Bridget
ReplyDeleteBeatle-Mania was certainly a huge thing in the 1960's. Yes most of the screaming fans were girls. Some of them went to crazy lengths to try and see the Beatles! It is easy to see why the girl hurt her leg trying to climb the fence to see them.I'm sure there are so many of these stories from other fans too.
I don't think that the fans today are this crazy, do you?
Have you ever been to see someone sing in concert? If you have, who?
It's a great experience if you get the chance to go and see someone!
Last year I went to Australia to see Adele in concert in Brisbane. It was amazing. There were 60,000 people there.
If you could go and see anyone in concert, who would you choose to go and see?
I wanted to go and see Pink later this year, but I am already away on a holiday when she is in New Zealand. I think she would put on a great concert.
Look forward to hearing who you would go and see!
Until next time
Allie :)
Kia ora Bridget,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Megan and I am part of the Summer Learning Journey team commenting on your posts over summer.
Wow, I didn't know that the Beatles fans were so passionate about the band. Isn't it crazy how famous singers can influence such a large number of people. I think it is fascinating that the police recruited 30 officers for a crowd of mainly young girls. Have you heard of the Beatles before this activity?
Can you think of any pop-stars today that have influenced a large number of youth in a similar way to the fans at the Beatles concert? This activity reminded me of Harry Styles concert late last year. Some of his fans were camping outside Spark Arena for up to 40 hours before the concert. That is some commitment to a pop-star.
Have you ever been to a concert before? I would love to hear about your experience if you have.
Have a lovely day,
Megan
